Central Asia

What is Central Asia?
Central Asia is a region of Asia, comprising the countries Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan. These countries have a lot of cultural homogeneity in many ways, as they only recently gained independence from the USSR and historically were nomadic. Therefore culture, language, food, and historical events in general are shared by people across these countries. The literary traditions of these countries are also very similar. However, each country has some key differences. Post-independence each country took a different route towards prosperity. Each country has a different geography. Each country has a different language. Each country has various different immigrant groups in it. So while Central Asia in general can be considered one vast cultural region, it’s worth studying each country’s history and culture on its own to discover the nuance and specific cultural identity that each group of people carries.
